They say it's Spring ♥

Hello Friends! ♥

Happy April! It's Saturday afternoon as I write this and just finished catching up on some computer work.  I thought I would update some photos on my side bar and give this blog a little refresh.  I think it looks good for Spring! And speaking of refresh, I want to introduce you to my new vanity table.  It came in a little box in a gazillion pieces with a gazillion screws to go with it.  I'm happy to say I put the whole thing together myself and didn't have any leftover parts which is always a good sign.  Let's hope it doesn't fall apart on me one day!

I'm actually crazy about it and am loving getting ready in the morning.  Picture me sitting on the stool with a mug of coffee and my phone playing 50's music.  I thought since I'd have everything in front of me I would get ready faster, but unfortunately, I'm just a bit too comfortable and it's taking me longer.  Punctuality is not my strong suit.  Just ask Rob!  Anyway, the good thing is I purged a lot of old makeup and now only have things on hand that I actually use.  Those drawers you see are full, but very organized : )

This lights you see were optional and are removable.  I had mixed feeling at first but now I really like them.  There are three light settings.  There's also a plug and USB port on the side.  Very convenient.

So how are things? In my corner of the world Spring has sprung!  It's still a bit cool but last week we had some beautiful days in the mid 60's.  Yesterday we almost hit 70! Crazy.  Today is rainy and chilly but that's to be expected.  April showers will hopefully bring May flowers!

I finished up putting up our spring decor because I can hardly believe Easter is in 2 weeks!  Last year I hosted an Easter brunch. This year it's going to be simple. We're going to take my Dad out to breakfast after church and later in the afternoon we'll swing over to my sister in laws to see Rob's family.  My Dad is having knee replacement surgery the week before so we're not sure how's he's going to be feeling anyway.  This week we've done all his pre-op appointments and he's ready to go.  Fingers crossed it all goes well.  He's going to have his rehab at home which is great. Regarding recovery, they say everyone is different.  Prayers he's up and about as soon as possible. This surgery has been a long time coming and he's anxious to get it over with.

In other news, Easter candy has entered the house!

Who would do such a thing?

(me!)

Today John is off at a Jazz festival with his class jazz band at UMASS Amherst in Boston.  There have been so many senior activities lately and he's loving it.  I don't think he's ever been this busy.  He has less than 2 months of school left and is determined to make the most out of them.  Easter week he has the week off for Spring break.  I took a few days off to spend with him.  We're going to look at a couple of community colleges in the area.  He's thinking about pursing teaching music. He wants to live at home, commute to school, and continue working at the movie theater.  A few of his friends from school has decided to start a band this summer as well.  It's an exciting time for him.  I know I say it all the time, but it's all gone by so fast.

It's ok though because now he can drive me places and get the coffees too.

I've adjusted (sort of ♥)

Have you noticed the rays of sunlight in the morning since daylight savings?  I've been waking up every morning to these lovely shadows dancing across the kitchen.  They come and go quickly so I have to hit the timing just right to see it. It makes me smile when I do.

And with that sunshine and warm weather is also birds chirping, bunnies hopping, chipmunks and squirrels scurrying... It's springtime alright.  And I love these blue flowers!

They are always one of the first to pop ♥

Last weekend I wanted to make something springy, so I made lemon blueberry sweet rolls!  One of my all-time favorite recipes from Joanna Gains!  They take a bit of work but it's worth it.  I saw I had frozen blueberries in the freezer, and I wanted to do something with them. They are so good and made for some sweet mornings.  I'm thinking about trying them with raspberries ♥

And that was pretty much my week.  I failed to tell you about all the bills I paid, loads of laundry I did, and countless errands I ran. Plus, work meetings and boring adult phone calls and things that needed attending to.  Who needs to talk about all that in this pretty spring post.  We have a painter here right now, so the house smells LOVELY.  Meanwhile Rob is still digging holes for plants. He can talk to you for hours about dirt and landscaping.  Oh, and we're still working on the bathroom project.  It's almost done! Almost.  What's for dinner tonight?  Who knows? I'm thinking take out.  How about you!?

Just keeping it real ♥

Have a happy rest of your weekend, friends!  Happy Spring!

Byeeeee!

  1. I need to update my blog as well, but I really am unsure as how to do it. I love the looks of yours. I love your spring pictures, and I have a couple of Easter pictures up but realized that I don't have much spring decor. I will have to fix that.

  2. Prayers for your Daddy, for his surgery and recovery. And I am quite impressed that you put that pretty table together yourself!

  3. Happy Spring!! I'm praying for a successful surgery and a quick recovery for your dad. You both will be in my prayers. Those cinnamon rolls look so good! I sure could go for one with the cup of coffee I'm currently drinking. I love all the touches of spring around your house. Have a good week!🩷
