The other night I committed one of the biggest beauty sins there is. I fell asleep with my makeup on! UGH! I woke up at 3 in the morning with my face and mouth feeling so dry it almost hurt. I had to get up, go to the bathroom and wash it with warm water. The worst part was that I never went back to sleep. Needless to say it was a long day....
It's hard for me to believe there was a time in my life when I did that all time.
( I was wild back in the day! lol).
I know now how important it is to wash and moisturize my skin. Especially during the cold months of winter. My skin, which has always been very dry anyway, has been feeling extra dehydrated lately. I'm making a conscious effort to start my day with hot lemon water and drink more water throughout the day. I now carry a big water bottle around with me. Yup. I'm that girl.
I notice when I take better care of my skin, my makeup sits better. I see less creases, lines and dry patches. I wanted to share with you some of my favorite skin care products that I am currently loving....
First is this e.l.f. cleanser. I use it in the morning and evening. I have always loved elf cosmetics and never realized they had a skin care line until recently on a trip to Target when I saw a whole display of products! Jackpot! This cleanser very soothing and leaves my skin feeling clean and soft. Super affordable too. The price at Target was $5!
I was so excited when I saw that elf also had an eye cream! The one I was using was all gone and I needed to buy a new one. I expect to pay at least $20 or more for a good one. It kills me, but has to be done. When I ever saw the price of this....$10.... I thought....how bad could it be? I'll give it a try. It's wonderful!!! It's very fluffy and infused with vitamin E and cucumber. It promises to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and the appearance of dark circles (which is the bain of my very existence!). I've been using this eye cream twice daily for two weeks now and I absolutely love it! My eye area is smooth, not crackly, and I do see a brightness. I'm looking forward to continuing to use this product and hopefully see more results.
The jar is pretty too ♥
Ok guys....it's not often that I go into the pantry for beauty care but in case you don't know about this I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Coconut oil! OMG
I've been reading up on the benefits of coconut oil and I finally decided to see for myself what all the hype was about. This stuff is magic in a jar! I smear this all over my face after I wash it, before I moisture. It makes my skin feel like silk. Don't think it's going to feel greasy or oily. It absorbs pretty quickly. Coconut oil over time has been proven to reduce wrinkles. I take extra care to rub it around my eyes and on my forehand. I also rub it on my elbows, heels, cuticles, even lips. It's super moistening and luxurious. It's an amazing product. I haven't tried this yet, but some people use it as hair conditioner. I'll be testing that next!
Bath & Body Works A Thousand Wishes is my current favorite body lotion. I first tried this at work when a coworker had it. I ran out to Bath & Body after that and stocked up on my own winter supply. It's not new, I think it came out last year. The scent is very feminine and soft and doesn't interfere with my perfume. Its super creamy and moisturizing. My hand are very dry in the winter. I apply this lotion every time I wash my hands.
And lastly, even though it's not skin care...it's my new favorite beauty product.
Maybelline lipstick # 440 Currant.
It's a little bold, but not too dark. Maybelline lip colors have always worked really well for me as far as not drying out my lips. I always apply chap stick under and over lipstick.
This color gives me the perfect winter lip ♥
And there you have it. All my favorites! Staying hydrated and moisturized is so important this time of year. I know personally, I feel so much better when I take care of myself. Especially during the busy holiday season.
And mental note....don't fall asleep with your makeup on. Unless you are really cozy in bed and too lazy to get up because you are so warm under the blankets and already half asleep...no just kidding. Don't do it ♥
Happy Friday, loves! Have a wonderful weekend! xo
PS. thank you to Pinterest (as always) for the beautiful images ♥
