City Walk ♥

It's not often that I venture out of my little suburb and head into Boston, but a few times a year I do get the urge.  Boston is only about 20 minutes from where I live, but with traffic sometimes it can seem like an eternity.  The way around this is to go early on a Sunday morning.  The springtime is the best time to visit because the weather is perfect and all the flowers are in bloom. 

Rob knows my favorite spot.  Right here in the public gardens.  

We took a ride in yesterday morning for a coffee and a stroll.  It was very lovely.  

I always say if I lived in the city I would visit here all the time.  

There are so many locals, spreading out blankets, and having picnics.   

There is always music coming from somewhere too.  

The famous Swan Boats were up and running! I think they opened yesterday for the summer season.  When I was in elementary school we would come here on field trips.  It was so much fun! 

We didn't go on the boats yesterday, but I stood on the bridge and took looks of pictures.

It was nice to be outside, roaming, and admiring all the pretty flowers, statues, and monuments. 

Our city is full of charm & history.  

You can actually feel it when you are here  ♥

We were lucky enough to find street parking but we still had to walk a bit.  

The awning across the street there is the famous Cheers bar (from the TV show).  

We stopped in and visited the gift shop.  

We do this every time.

It's fun being tourists in your own city : ) 

I'm always fascinated by these brownstone type apartments like you see on TV.  I wish I knew someone who lived in one so I could check out the inside : ) 

 

I'm definitely more of a country girl and could never live the city life, however I do like to visit from time to time.  

We got a coffee, bread, and pastries from a North End bakery (which is the Italian section of the city!) to take home.  

That was worth the trip all by itself. 

So that was my morning yesterday.

Taking a Ride ♥

Good Morning Friends! 

Last weekend when Rob suggested we go for a ride in the city I was not onboard.  I had woken up feeling a little off, and wasn't much in the mood for anything. I told him "you and John go, I'll stay home and clean."  I had things I wanted to do around the house.  He said I needed to get out of the house for a while and it was such a nice day we needed a change of scenery.  Plus there could be an ice cream in it for me if I come along. I knew he was right and even though I didn't really feel like it, I agreed. 

For the last month Rob and John have been watching the TV show Cheers....one of Rob's favorites.  John has really been enjoying it and was shocked to learn there is a real Cheers in Boston.  Rob said, "I'll show you!" and off we went. 

Normally a ride into the city is not something I enjoy because of the traffic.  Well, that is currently not an issue since most places are still closed and hardly anyone is on the road.  It was a nice smooth ride, window open, fresh air in my face.... I instantly felt better seeing life outside my own neighborhood.  We just cruised around and never got out of the car, but it was just what I needed to get me out of my funk.  Life is still happening and it's a good thing! 

The Boston Public Garden is my favorite part of the city.   There was quite a few people enjoying the nice weather.  

(I just hope they were being safe)

The World of Downton Abbey

Welcome to the world of Downton Abbey! A traveling exhibit of all things Downton Abbey, that just happened to be in Boston on the opening weekend of the Downton Abbey movie!  If you love the show as much as I do you will understand how this is the ultimate fan exhibit.  Memorabilia, sets, costumes....all from the show!  It was truly an extraordinary experience!  

We had tickets for 11 am.  The viewings are timed to reduce crowds (although it was still very crowded).  It cost $35 a ticket which I was happy to pay : )  While we were waiting in line we were severed tea and biscuits on silver trays with white dollies, so basically my experience started the minute I stepped out of my Uber.  

It took about 2 hours to walk through 8 rooms full of all things Downton.  I didn't photograph everything...( I was too busy gawking and wiping the drool off my face) but here is just a sample of some of my favorite things!

If you have the opportunity to see this exhibit I highly recommend it! It's amazing to see the actual things up close.  There were hand written letters that were used on the show, props from the bedrooms, and profiles on every character.  So many details
