Ten Things I Love: Spring Edition ♥

Hello Friends! Happy Wednesday

I just sat down with a banana bread cookie & a square of dark chocolate to have with my afternoon tea.  It's been a rainy gloomy day so I've got my cozy socks on and I'm feeling very hygge.  Today was a busy one and now it's time to relax and enjoy the feeling....my favorite time of day.

This morning before I started working I put some orange essential oil in my diffuser and it brought me life.  I usually only diffuse orange on Sundays after I clean but today I needed an extra boost of motivation.  It worked.  I checked a ton off my to-do list. In addition to my actual work, I made some appointments, organized my wallet (which was a nightmare after vacation), and prepped a salad to go with tonight's dinner which is steak on the G Forman grill.  Easy peasy.  Funny how once I get dinner sorted (even just in my head) I feel accomplished for the day.

Anyway...

It's been a while since I did a "ten things I love" post so today I thought I would do a spring edition.  Easter is over and all my eggs and bunnies are safely packed away until next year.  We are in full spring mode now with flowers blooming and pollen everywhere - something I don't enjoy - but we won't talk about that! Only the good things.  And here they are:

Ten very random things I love about spring! :

audio books

I downloaded an app on my phone called LIBBY that hooks into my library so I can borrow audio books for free.  It's my new favorite thing in the world.  This weekend I listened to Sometimes I Lie and boy was it good! If you like thrillers/mysteries you'll enjoy this book.  If you really want to be creeped out listen to the audio version.  I kid you not! I listen to books while I'm working and I've gone through so many.  I just borrowed another Alice Feeney book called You Know Who I Am.  I'm on a thriller kick right now.  If you have any recommendations please send them my way.

weekend getaways

Always.  See my last post for more on that! (here) I'm still thinking about that soup!

planning for summertime!

Yes please!  It seems like as soon as we hit spring, summer is on everyone's mind.  I've already put in for time off and am dreaming of summer days, smores by the fire, and 4th of July fireworks! John is in his last term of school and is counting the days until summer break. He's earned it!  I can't believe how fast this year has flown by.  One year of high school down already. Wow.

lilacs blooming

Lilacs, lilies of the valley, dogwood trees, and all the other beautiful spring flowers that we wait all winter for have sprung back to life.  Its such a pretty sight to see!

pink lipstick

I enjoy switching up my makeup for the seasons.  I've abandoned winter shades for light pinks and pastels.  I just got a new pink lip balm that I'm crazy about.  It's nice and bright and screams spring. It's Beauty For Real in the shade "JJ".  I love it!

raspberry tea

Ok, to be honest I love this tea all year but something about drinking it this time of year has a different feeling.  It's sweet, but not too sweet.  It's light and deliciated and the color brings a smile to my face.  I love looking at it as much as I love drinking it.  As a matter of fact, I'm having a cup right now as I type this.

getting new house plants

I love visiting the garden center in springtime.  This past year I've really gotten into plants.  Wow, I know that sounds dorky but it's so true.  I love my plants and I'm excited to add a few more to the house this season.  I'm looking for an ivy for the bathroom and something else for the living room.  Plants make me happy.  That is all

rainy days

We've had a very rainy spring so far.  I don't mind a bit.  I never mind rain.  Snow is a different story.  But rain is good.  I love curling up on the couch on a rainy day with a book or a good movie.  Cozy at it's best. Plus rain makes everything grow AND washes away the pollen that makes our eyes itch. That's a win!

lighter blankets on the bed

Yup.  Fresh sheets and a light comforter makes sleeping a dream.  I've packed away all the heavy stuff for the season.  This weekend we are shopping for new bedding for John's bed (he's due!) and I'm looking for a light throw blanket for my room in sage green.  No special reason why.  I just decided I wanted one : )

spring cleaning

I'm not really a "spring cleaning" person so to speak. I never have followed a specific list of things that have to be done in spring (just because it's spring) but I do always get the urge to do little things this time of year like clean my tea cup shelf and empty my china cabinet and clean the glass.  Sparkling glass always makes rooms feel much cleaner...and they distract you from the things you didn't do...like windows...: )

This was so good!

Will be getting friends soon!

The prettiest color!

So good! I love the lemon zinger too : )

What are some of your favorite things about spring?

Have a wonderful and cozy day, friends! I hope you are enjoying a beautiful spring so far.  It goes fast, so let's stop and smell the lilacs

Weekend in New Hampshire ♥

Hello Friends! Happy Monday!

I am just back from a long, relaxing, weekend in North Conway, New Hampshire.  We've been here many times before so it felt like "going home" if that makes sense.  We are creatures of habit and enjoy going back to the same places again and again.  Its comforting.  The ride is about 3 hours from Boston which is not bad at all if you pack enough coffee and snacks : )

The weather was a bit chilly but I didn't mind.  We got hot chocolates instead of ice creams, which was perfectly OK (even better) by me.  We shopped, ate good food, and soaked up as many beautiful mountain views as possible.  The scenery is breathtaking and the air is so clean.  It felt good to be outside walking around.

One night we ate at an Irish pub which was so COZY I didn't want to leave. The French onion soup....YUM! (I'm kissing the tips of my fingers and waving them in the air....: )

We shopped at handcrafted stores (which I LOVE), and visited a Christmas shop because I'm never satisfied with the season I'm in. That store made me so unbelievably happy my family was embarrassed....lol

At night we hung out in our hotel room, played trivia games, and watched Seinfeld.  When I say it doesn't take much to make us happy I mean it.  We honestly had the best time.  It's been awhile since we had a change of scenery and this weekend came at the perfect time.

It was needed.

So now that I'm relaxed and recharged it's time to get back to real life.  Today I'm working, doing laundry, and planning meals for the week. When's the next vacation???

Have a wonderful Monday Friends!

I hope your week is off to a great start! Time for me to get coffee and get to work : )

Easter Week! ♥

Good Morning Friends! Happy Easter week!

Aren't these cookies pretty? Don't let them fool you...they are the sweetest cookies you've ever tasted.  Lots of sugar this week : )

Honestly it's what's keeping me going.  That, warmer temps, and dreams of summertime! I know I'm jumping the gun, but I feel like lately everyone is making plans.  Including me! It's so nice to have things to look forward to.  It's been a long winter and I'm finally waking up with a smile on my face.

John and I decorated these cookies on Sunday.  OH the mess!  I should have taken pictures and done one of those "Instagram vs. Reality" posts!  It was quite a scene but we had a lot of fun.  I feel blessed that my 14 year old son still loves to decorate cookies with me and do all the crazy things I suggest.  Friday we are coloring our Easter eggs and watching the Charlie Brown Easter DVD.  Well, it will be on in the background but that still counts! (I'm not pushing it...lol :)

Our Spring home is looking colorful and cheery.

The forsythia's are blooming in the neighborhood.  It's so nice to see color.
We survived yet another winter! Yay!

Iced coffee tastes refreshing on sunny Spring mornings.  I'm trying to get back into my walking routine again.  It helps so much with stress relief to get fresh air and sunshine.  Breathing it in while I listen to audio books or podcasts.  This week I've been listening to daily mass first thing in the morning, which is a wonderful way to start the day

How many Cadbury chocolate eggs have you eaten lately?
I'll bet not as many as I have! Why are these eggs so addictive?!
#helpIcantstop

All my heavy winter sweaters have been packed away and replaced with lighter things.  Three quarter length shirts in pastel colors and light cardigans.  I've softened up my make up too.  I just got this pretty pink lipstick which will be perfect for Easter and all spring! I also treated myself to some new brushes. I was long overdue!

Visits to the library have been good for my soul this week too.  It's nice to work in a different place once in a while.  It's very peaceful here which I love.

And here's a little flashback that popped up in my memories last week.  How cute is this?

I miss these days so much!

Can you believe we are almost half way through April?  Easter is this weekend!

I still have to put some finishing touches on Easter baskets and do some baking. We are spending Easter at my in laws this year and I'm making desserts, which as you know is my favorite thing to do : )

What are your plans?

Have a lovely day friends! I hope the sun is shining on you today!

xoxox

ps....here's something just in case you need to hear it...

Amen : )
