Friday Randomness! ♥

Hello Friends! Happy Friday!

I hope this day finds you well.  It's a cool and damp day here in my corner of the world.  Our temps are supposed to shoot up to the 90's this weekend, so there's that.  Rob put my A/C in last week and I'm ready to flip the switch as soon as the humidity hits the air.

Spring is weird.  And I feel like it's just about over.  All the flowers are blooming and outside is endless green. I'm hoping to go strawberry & blueberry picking next Sunday if it's not too hot. I have dreams of strawberry pie and blueberry buckle in my future : )

And here I am this morning.  Using the only mug appropriate for Downton Abbey weekend!  The new movie comes out today and I'm so excited to see it!  It's getting great reviews.  Some say it's better than the first movie.  Whatever the case I'll be there. If not only for the clothes, tea, accents, and castles.  I love it all so much!

This week felt very random.  I accomplished a lot, yet very little.  Do you ever feel that way?

Here are some highlights...

I went plant shopping and came home with these beauties.

My goal is to keep them all alive!

I got a pedicure and it felt amazing!  As I was sitting in a massage chair soaking my aching feet I wondered why I don't do this more often.  It was the best hour of self care I'd had in a long time.
I picked this pretty pink for my toes.  I snapped a picture of it so I would remember the color for next time!

And cake! There's always cake.  Cinnamon coffee cake for afternoon coffee of course.
Care to join me?

We watched some classic movies this week also.  This one has my heart!!!
Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert fill me with joy.  Corny - yes. But something about it is so utterly charming.  They call them classics for a reason

The family agreed our meal of the week was slow cooker BBQ pulled pork sandwiches.  It was also the easiest meal of the week!  I LOVE my crock pot.

I'm currently pinning more crockpot recipes for summer : )

Totally relatable!!!

And this.  The struggle is REAL.

I'm feeling it more and more each day! LOL

And there I be...

Today is another Friday of work, checking things off the to-do list, paying bills, and pulling out some summer clothes for the weekend.  The best part is that it's PIZZA night!

Just another day in paradise!

Thanks for stopping by today friends! Have a wonderful day.

I wish you all pretty flowers and rays of sunshine!

Happy Weekend! xoxoxo

Mother's Day Weekend ♥

Hello Friends! I hope you all had a nice Mother's Day weekend!

Mine was lovely and went by in a blink.  Friday night we celebrated with my parents.  I made dinner and they got dessert.  The Italian pastry assortment that was placed in front of me was much better than the pasta dinner I prepared : )  I wish I photographed it but we all dived into it too fast!

My mom gave me this beautiful plant.  She knows the things I love...pretty flowers and teapots! A little birdie must have told her I was wanting more plants

Saturday I got my hair done (much needed!) and then Rob treated John and I to a take out dinner from my favorite place down the street.  They have the BEST eggplant parmesan sub which I had been craving all week.  Rob told me I could pick anyplace I wanted to have dinner Saturday night.  I chose subs from the corner sub shop.  I like what I like.  My sandwich was A+!

Sunday morning I woke up to a large Dunkin Donuts coffee on the kitchen table with my name on it, flowers, and a homemade card from John that made me cry from laughter. I have it on my nightstand so I can start everyday with a smile

And then we were off to my sister in laws for a spectacular brunch!!

Her table was so pretty!

And the food.....OMG

I can't even with these little pancakes! : )

I brought the blueberry sweet rolls you see in the top left corner.  They are from Joanna Gains' Magnolia Table Vol2 cookbook. It's the second time I've made them. Easy and so good!

Breakfast is my favorite meal and this one was a real treat!

We got home around 4:00 and all three of us took a nap!  No joke.

My Mother's day weekend extravaganza revolved around food and family.  It was a great weekend which made Monday morning very difficult.  Today is Tuesday and I'm still not fully recovered from my food hangover : )

But on with the week we go!

My home is filled with the scent of roses and rays of sunshine through the windows.

Not everyday is good, but I look for something good in everyday.

Thankfully I don't have to look too hard.  I wish the same for you too!

Have a wonderful day friends!  Xx

Pineapple cake squares ♥

Hello Friends!

I hope you enjoyed a nice weekend. It was beautiful here! Everyday is a crap shoot weather wise in New England, but Saturday & Sunday we were blessed with sunny skies and warm temperatures.

On Saturday John and I did some shopping.  We got him some new bedding at Target that he picked out (checking that off the list!) and then went to a music and movie store that he wanted to go to. John collects DVDs and vinyl records so we are always on the hunt for cools stores to check out.  This one had discounted prices which now that he's budgeting his own money, was a plus! I love to browse the oldies and vintage sections. (maybe because I'm old and vintage? I'm ok with that! :)

We got iced coffees and had a fun day out.

That night we met up with some friends for pizza.  After dinner we took a nice long walk to digest and watch the sunset. It had us all counting the day until summer.

Friends since kindergarten!

I was lucky enough to become friends with the moms too! We've known each other for many many years.  Our kids have grown up together. The boys go to different schools now, but we all have remained close.

I'm glad about that

Also FYI - Bertucci's has the BEST rolls.  I could honestly make a meal out of them! And that oil! Heavenly!

On Sunday I did my usual cleaning and puttering around the house.  I watered my plants, did laundry, cleaned the bathrooms (my least favorite job), and dusted all the furniture. To reward myself I decided to bake up something yummy for dessert.  Want to hear what it was?  I think you're gonna love it!

Are you a fan of pineapple? If you are I have a lovely cake for you to try.  It's a light, delicate cake, perfect for this time of year.  The special ingredient is crushed pineapple!

Yum! I am definitely a fan : )

The pineapple flavor is not overpowering. However, I do notice on day 2 it becomes a little more pineapple-y, so the longer it sits the better the flavor. You can be the judge on that.

Perfect with a cup of afternoon tea.

This is my current favorite snack

Lucky for me I had this in the pantry....just waiting for me!

Sunshine in a bowl.

So pretty too!

This cake reminds me of a pillow because it's so soft and fluffy.
I imagine it at tea parties or brunches.  It's really delicious and super easy to make.  I'm sure you have everything you need already.

*recipe from Pinterest*

*slightly adapted from Pretty Providence (found here)*

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened

1 cup sugar

2 eggs

1 cup flour

1/4 tsp baking soda

1/4 tsp salt

1 tsp vanilla

1 can crushed pineapple, drained

powdered sugar

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Cream butter, sugar, and eggs.

Beat in flour, baking soda, & salt.

Stir in vanilla and pineapple.

Spread into a greased 9x9 baking pan.

Bake for 28-33 minutes.

Cool completely in pan and sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Cut into squares and serve!

I hope you try this cake.  I promise you'll love it!

And that was my weekend in a nutshell.  Shopping, pizza, cleaning, cake, done.

Happy Monday and Happy May! Can you believe it's MAY?  Where does the time go?

Have a great day Friends!

I'm sharing a virtual piece of cake with all of you today!
