Good Morning Friends! Guess what? I’m sick.
After I was just saying to myself how lucky I was for getting through the entire winter avoiding it – boom! Here I am, looking like The Walking Dead and sounding like Lauren Bacall. I totally jinxed myself.
It’s not that I’m complaining, I have just been thinking about what it was like to be home sick when I was a kid. Think back to around 1984. I would be lying on our couch in my Strawberry Shortcake sleeping bag, resting my head on my Ziggy pillow, and watching (none other than) The Price is Right! Didn’t everyone watch that when they were home sick? My mom would always give me warm ginger ale and Jello. Didn’t matter what was wrong with me – whenever I didn’t feel well it was warm ginger ale and Jello.
(To this day whenever I have ginger ale I think about that : )
Being sick during that time was a treat. Couch resting and channel surfing with our new remote control! I think we just got cable TV at that point and we could get movies on HBO! What a treat!
I’m sure I milked that situation more times than I care to admit! ♥
Being sick as a mom in 2017 is a whole different ballgame. We still have to go to work, make the beds, prepare dinner, help with homework, etc. Now that I think about it, I can’t remember my mother ever being sick. I guess I was too wrapped up in my Strawberry Shortcake/cable TV cocoon to notice. She got stuff done, just like I do now. And never complained about it.
Thanks mom! ♥♥
There’s some perspective on a Friday for you :)
As for the weekend we have no concrete plans. I’m hoping to catch up on some rest, have some soup, read my book, and shake off the end of this awful cold. Rob will be home to help with John which I never take for granted.
(Dads are pretty awesome too, by the way!)
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and the sun is shining on you today.
Take some vitamin C and stay healthy!
