Escaping the Winter for 5 minutes ♥ memories of Disney World

Hello!

It's Monday and we are prepping for another big storm tomorrow.  It's time to batten down the hatches. I'm expecting to get anywhere between 12-16 inches of snow in my area!  After finishing this post I'm headed to the store to stock up on a few items because we'll probably be home on a snow day tomorrow.  And even though I'm so over winter at this point, the thought of being home cozy on the couch watching movies, while a storm rages outside, makes my very happy ♥

This will be winter's goodbye and soon Spring will roll in (fingers crossed! : ).

Did I also mention that it's absolutely freezing here?! It's in the teens but feels well below zero.  I'm craving that warm summer sunshine on my face.  The kind you get in Florida.  I came across this picture of me the other day taken in Disney World on October 12, 1998.  I know the date because I was on my honeymoon.

In an effort to escape winter for 5 minutes I pulled out a few random pictures of Disney World for your viewing pleasure.  If you are as cold and sick of winter as I am, the glow of the sunshine in these pics will surely make you happy : )

This is a rare photo of me in shorts! I don't wear them much anymore, unless I'm in Disney and is HOT! Also, may I have a moment of silence for those legs.....trust me, they don't look like that anymore. RIP : /

Here we are...honeymooners with our matching fanny packs! We were so in style! lol

Coincidently, my mom recently found my autograph book from when my family took our first vacation to Disney World in 1984.  I was in the fourth grade. I remember we stayed at the Polynesian and it was the first time I had seen a luau. I thought it was the most magical place I had ever seen!  I think I decided right then and there that someday I would honeymoon in Disney.  And I did! : )

Back in those days the characters were allowed to roam the parks freely.  They would come up to you or your could go up to them get their autograph.  I love how Mary Poppins personalized this! She has nice handwriting too, don't you think? ♥

Two years ago we took John for the first time.  He was 7, the perfect age!  He had no idea what to expect, and of course absolutely loved it!

I know Disney is hot, can be crowded, and is very expensive (it takes us a long time to save up for a Disney trip) but it's worth it.  Disney World makes me feel like a kid again.  It brings back all those childhood, Mary Poppins memories.  I think that's what it's supposed to do ♥

We love Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, shopping at Disney Springs,  and especially (for me) the Magic Kingdom.  It's where all the classics live!

Rob loves Epcot the best!

My favorite Epcot spot is the fountain in France.

I love the French music they play in the streets...ooh, la, la!

Friends that fist bump!

Glorious Florida sunsets!

And this moment, which was a thrill of a lifetime! A forever friend (in me!)

Rob loves the Tower of Terror at Hollywood Studios.  Me, I would rather pretend to be Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz on the Great Movie Ride.  There is something for everybody ♥

Cinderella's castle! The heart of the Magic Kingdom! ♥♥♥

And then there's this.  Snow White, my childhood idol.  I want to be her when I grow up : )

Hi ~

I could do a whole post on all of the yummy food and fabulous restaurants, but I think this says it all.  Mickey Bars for daaaays!

The Gang's all here!

Resting our weary feet at the pool after a long day in the sun.  Feels.so.good. ♥

And there you have it.  Are you warm yet?  Currently we have no set date to go back, but every two years I get that itching inside of me.  We are thinking of maybe November this time.  We'll see.  I'm going to start my "I wanna go to Disney" campaigning when we get back from Memphis.  I hope we can make it happen!  Just writing this I can smell the sweet sugary aroma from the Confection Shop on Main Street.  It's calling my name! ♥

By the way, if you love Disney as much as I do you should be listening to this podcast...

The Passporter Moms.  It's a weekly podcast - all things Disney.  Sara and Jennifer fill you in on all the weekly goings on at Disney, plus news, travel tips, listener questions, and more.  Every week they have a topic, like "5 must sees at Animal Kingdom" or "Best counter service restaurants at Epcot".  Things like that.  I get my weekly fix of all things Disney, when I can't be there but wish I was.  Plus they are so cute and funny and sometimes talk about the Bachelor, which is always a good thing.

Well, I guess I better get back to real life and make sure I have enough milk and bread in the house.  Blizzard Stella is headed my way.  (insert Marlon Brando reference here ***)

Have a magical Monday! xoxo

  2. Ahhh! Thank you for warming me up with your sunny Florida photos! Disney is pure MAGIC and I feel the same way about it as you do. I loved seeing the honeymoon pics of you and Rob! They're too cute! Did you enjoy your snow day yesterday? I'm crossing my fingers that the snow melts quickly and spring makes an appearance again very soon - this time for good! XOXO
