Real talk...round one ♥

Hello, my friends!

I was thinking about doing something a little different today.  In case you haven't heard, my new addiction is Snapchat.  Although I don't do much posting (yet) I am loving the little snipits of daily life I am being able to see. It's so fun to get peeks into people's "real life". I'm getting a bit addicted to it which is the last thing I need in my life, but it's too late now!

Often on blogs and IG/twitter life seems so perfect, so styled, when in fact we all know that is not the case.  I think it would feel good to reveal some real life things about me so you would know that life isn't always coffee and apple pie. I've seen some of my fellow blogger do these posts and I thought it was about time I give it a try.
So here goes....

I’m gonna put this out there and I hope some of you moms understand…..
deep breath….here goes…
Sometimes... when I’m too tired to cook we have cereal for dinner.  There I said it.  Cereal, grilled cheese sandwiches, or scrambled eggs.  One or more of these make an appearance at least once a week at dinner time. There is just no way I can do a full sha-bang every night.  After work I’m tired or if its Thursday chances are the fridge is empty.

That’s just real life, folks.

viola...add a tomato and it's a gourmet meal~

Sometimes (a lot of times) John would rather have a frozen kid’s dinner than a meal I have made from scratch.  This is heartbreaking to me and used to really bother me, but now I just go with it.  I would rather have a happy eater at the table than one with an attitude.  I do limit him to one “kid’s cuisine” a week though.  Let’s not get too crazy.

His favorite!

The funny thing is that I remember loving TV dinners as a kid so I sort of know where he's coming from : )

I'm not a morning person.  I wake up at 6 am everyday because I have to, not because  I particularly enjoy it.  I don't like to talk to anyone right away but for some unknown reason someone in my house will want to strike up a convo with me 2 minutes after I've gotten out of bed. I don't get it. I want to say "are you new around here?"

I need time for the coffee to kick in before I can function.

I really do love cleaning my house.  Homemaking is my thing.  I love vacuuming and dusting and arranging my little knick-knacks everywhere.  Although I do have a constant battle with my husband who says I have “too much stuff” (and I’m being nice with his choice of words) around the house.  He’s banned me from putting things on window sills because they are “in his way”.  The more I hear this, the more things I try to sneak into the house. The cuter the better!  I have stashes everywhere.  He also says I have too many candles, baskets, and kitchen gadgets.

(I know, right?!)

He’ll never win this battle.

I have these cuties everywhere!

And while we’re on the subject of husbands, let me just tell you that I have been married for 18 years.  Rob and I were married in October of 1998. I was 24 and he as 26.  He’s a wonderful husband who works very hard and I love him very, very much.

Most days it’s like this…

And other times it’s more like this…

And that’s just the way it is.

But he empties the dishwasher and does his own laundry so it’s all good ♥♥♥

I drive a very old and beat up car.  You will never see a photo of it on my blog.  Never. It’s been in several accidents over the years and as a result has silver duct tape on the front fender. It's rusty and dusty and right now one of the back doors is stuck.  This past winter it had something wrong with the thermostat and some days the heat didn't work.  I kept a blanket in the car to wrap up in for the days where I just couldn't stand it.  This car is the bain of my existence. But it’s completely paid for and that’s why we keep it.  More money for vacations and special things, which I love….but man… someday when I get a new car you will hear me rejoicing in the streets!
btw - the heat got fixed and the a/c works wonderfully.

I still want a new car, though...:)

I've been in this exact situation. Recently.

Well, there you have it.  Real talk, round one.  I don't think I'm ready for a no makeup selfie on Snapchat yet, but this felt good!

I hope you won't judge me! xo

  2. I love the *keeping it real* posts. I can totally relate to your car situation. I hate having a car payment, as you said, that leaves more money for vacations and stuff to make our house a home! My honey eats cereal most every night as an after dinner snack. He even uses half & half, instead of milk. Keep those real posts coming!!!
