Toasted Marshmallow Milkshake!

Hello Friends!

Happy Thursday!  Today I am going to share with you a tip that if you don't already know about, you should definitely know!

Are you aware you can put toasted marshmallows in milkshakes?!?!?  Friends, it's a thing and it's delicious!!!

I recently saw it online and have been dying to try it.  For the sake of the blog I did it for you guys! You're welcome! lol

Start with some creamy ice cream. I chose vanilla, but any flavor would work!

(I think strawberry would be epic!)

A few scoops will do ya....

Into the blender it goes with a bit of milk.

Now the fun part

Toast a few marshmallow to desired doneness.  I like mine charred...aka...burnt!

I may have gone a little overboard with the lighter, but that's ok.  They were still yummy! : )

Add them to the ice cream & milk and blend!

The end result is a creamy, delicious, marshmallow milkshake!!!

I thought about garnishing it with another toasted marshmallow, which would have looked nice, but I didn't want to take the time to do.  I just wanted to dig in and taste it!

It's soooo good! You can really taste the marshmallow.  It reminded me of sitting around a campfire on a summer evening making s'mores!

Sip away and let all the summer feels wash over you! lol

I decided to take mine out to the back porch and enjoy the sunshine. It's been raining for days and today it finally stopped!

Well, that was my life tip of the week! I hope the next time you make a milkshake you'll give this a try.  I have a feeling I'll be making more of these this summer! I am curious to try it with different flavors

Have a good day, everyone!  Smile because tomorrow is Friday!!!

Easter 2019 ♥

Hello Friends!

Well it's Monday and another Easter Sunday has come and gone.

It was a beautiful weekend and we certainly enjoyed it!

On Friday John and I colored eggs.  Well, he did most of the work.

I was in charge of cleaning up (as usual).

He did a great job!

Easter morning started with a hearty breakfast!

The Easter Bunny came bearing treats!  ♥

Can you tell he's a bit excited for Toy Story 4 this summer?!

I am too!

We had dinner at my in laws.

My mother in law sets a beautiful table!

Her egg tree was the inspiration for mine! : )

Pretty colors everywhere!

And traditions!

Chocolate eggs and special china

My niece painted this egg dish! I think it's adorable!

Dinner was delicious!

Antipasto...

homemade lasagna... (so good!!!)

and lamb chops on the grill!....

topped off with a piece of tiramisu!

All of it was amazing and I was SO FULL! ; )

There were prayers, laughs, egg hunts, good conversation, wine, and of course the food! It was a wonderful day!

♥

I hope you all had a special Sunday with your peeps celebrating whatever your heart holds dear.

Butterscotch Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Bars ♥

Hello Friends! It's Friday already!  The week went by so fast and I can hardly believe that it's Easter weekend! Today we are coloring eggs.  It's one of John's favorite traditions.
He's been waiting all week!

The weather here has been beautiful and sunny.  It's really putting us in the Spring Holiday mood!
We spent our week very low key.  We did a bit of shopping, went out to lunch a few times, took a walk, and watched several movies.  It was indeed lovely and I enjoyed the slow pace.

Aside from a crazy incident with my car, which I will go into another time (it deserves its own post!) we really enjoyed the week!

 ♥

I also did a bit of baking.  I wanted to try a new recipe I saw on Pinterest.  As if we needed any more desserts in the house.... ;-)

I've been craving butterscotch.  I have to admit I don't usually make butterscotch treats, even though I really love the taste!

A few things to note:  *The recipe calls for 2 cups of butterscotch chips.  I changed that to one cup butterscotch and one cup chocolate chips.  I had to have a little chocolate in there!

*The recipe also includes toasted coconut. Honestly, I did not notice a huge coconut taste in the bars.  If you are not a fan of coconut I would leave it out.

*Despite the 2 cups of brown sugar these are not overly sweet.

*Do not omit the sea salt.  This really enhanced the flavors and balanced out the chocolate and butterscotch

Delicious recipe from Crème de la Crumb (click here for step by step instructions

I can't leave out the chocolate!

I am calling these my pre-Easter treat! I'll be making pies tomorrow.

This will hold us over till then  ♥

They are perfect with a cup of tea or coffee in the afternoon or as an evening Easter treat!

Happy Easter weekend Friends! I hope the sun is shining on you today.

I'm off to color eggs! xo

Spring Weekend ♥

 Hello Everyone!

Starting tomorrow John is officially on Spring Break! He has the whole week off and doesn't return to school until the Monday after Easter! We teetered with the idea of taking a vacation this week (I was very close to booking a Florida get-a-way) but eventually decided that all we really wanted to do was just stay home and do nothing.  There's nothing wrong with doing nothing when you're always doing something...does that make sense? It does to me.  A whole week of relaxation, no homework, and no driving here, there and everywhere.  Sounds like a vacation to me!

Here's John last Wednesday night at his school's science fair. The theme was Shark Tank and all the kids had to come up with inventions.  John's invention was The Gel Comb.  A comb that dispenses hair gel onto your hair as you comb it!  All the kids did a great job with their projects and it was really fun to see what they came up with.  I don't ever remember being this creative when I was in 6th grade : )

I was super proud of him and it was a great way to start his spring vacation.  Starting tomorrow, no alarm clocks for a week! Yippee!

We kicked off our weekend with a stop at the Disney Store.  John earned some money around the house that was literally burning a hole in his pocket and knew exactly what he wanted.  This Carl Frederickson plush from UP.  I love his cane! : )

The weather was beautiful this weekend.  We started a little grey on Saturday morning but by the afternoon the sun came out and I was in short sleeves!

It was the same today.  I did a little housework & yard cleanup at home and then John and I went for a ride to our library.  I was shocked when I looked into the courtyard and saw this!

Beautiful cherry blossoms all in bloom!

 Hello April! ~

Perfect for Easter week! ♥

I think these little ones are called bluebells and I wish my phone captured them better.

They were the prettiest blue!

I feel like we've been waiting all winter for this ♥

While we were there I did mange to go inside and pick this up.  I can't wait to start it!

While the rest of the free world is watching Game of Thrones tonight I will be curled up with my nose in a book.

I'm ok with that : )

And finally.....(I saved the best for last)

Strawberries were 2 for 1 this week at the market so I stocked up. Lucky for me because they are ginormous! : )

This one was perfectly heart shaped ♥

Add some pudding and whip cream and you've got a sweet ending to your weekend!

Sometimes the simplest things are simply the best!

Thank you for stopping by today.  I'm so happy you did!

Wishing you a lovely week ahead! It's almost Easter!!! ♥

Sweet Onion & Chive Pinwheels ♥

Hello Friends!

I hope you are all doing well this week!  If you are like me and starting to think about Easter, I've got something special for you today....

Here's and idea for an easy appetizer. I got this recipe right off the Pillsbury.com website.
It's loaded with ideas that are very easy and usually only require a few ingredients.

I made these sweet onion pinwheels on Easter a few years ago and everyone loved them.
I might make them again this year : )

The fresh chives made all the difference.

All you need is...

1/2 cup chopped sweet onions
1/4 cup shredded Italian Cheese blend
2 tbs cream cheese, softened
1 tbs mayonnaise
1 can Pillsbury refrigerated crescent rolls
2 tsp chopped fresh chives

Heat oven to 375 degrees.
Mix onions, cheeses, and mayo until well blended and soft.

Unroll dough on work surface, but do not separate.  Firmly press perforations to seal.

Spread cheese mixture over dough.

Carefully roll up rectangle.

Cut roll into 16 slices (about 3/4 inch wide).
Place cut side down on greased cookie sheet.

Sprinkle with chives.

Bake 12 - 15 minutes or until golden brown.

Immediately remove from cookie sheet.  Serve warm.

I think these are sweet enough that you could serve them with brunch as well as a dinner appetizer.

In case you are interested (and as obsessed with crescent roll dough as much as I am : ) here are two other recipes I've made using the dough.

apple dumplings - I just made these last week!

lemon crescent rolls  - looking at the recipe I can't wait to make them again.  I love lemon!

Both are easy, delicious, and would be a welcome addition to your Easter table!

Happy Tuesday Friends!

Thanks for stopping by today! xoxoxo
