Soft Boiled Eggs ♥

Hello Friends!

This past Sunday I made myself a childhood favorite for breakfast.  Soft boiled eggs!  I'm not exaggerating when I tell you I have not  had soft boiled eggs in years! I used to eat them all the time when I was little. Whenever my Dad would make them on Sunday mornings I would be so happy!! My favorite part was dipping the toast "soldiers" into the egg. YUM.

After all these years I've never attempted to make them myself.  I've always been intimidated and afraid they would come out hard boiled.

I have been craving them lately (and feeling a bit nostalgic I guess :) and decided to give them a try.  I figured the worst thing that could happen would I get hard boiled eggs! Not so bad, right?

I looked up the instructions and decided to use the Martha Stewart method, which looked simple.  And guess what?

It was!

Here's Martha's step by step instructions:

Place eggs in a saucepan large enough to accommodate them in a single layer.
Fill the pan with cold water, covering eggs by an inch.
Set over medium-high heat, and bring to a boil.
Remove from heat, cover, and let stand 1 1/2 to 2 minutes.

While you are waiting make your toast.  Butter and cut into soldiers : )

After 2 minutes remove from pan.  Place your egg in an egg cup or juice glass so it sits upright.  Carefully  remove the top of the egg.  Season with salt & pepper.  Dip your toast in the egg and enjoy!

They were so delicious and I will surely be making them again!

Do you have a favorite food from your childhood that you make or have attempted to make?

I'd love to hear about it!

  2. this is always a favourite in this household. I made it for Violet just yesterday! As a child we called it 'dippy egg & soldiers'!

I've added you to my favourites. I'm trying to get better at visiting blogs that I love, if I don't have them all in one place then I have no chance of doing it! xx
