Cinnamon Roll In A Mug: It works! ♥

Hello Friends!

It's a drizzly and gloomy day here today and I've been clinging to all my comforts: hot beverages, cushy socks, and my favorite black cardigan that's seen better days but I refuse to part with it. For some reason I slept terrible last night.  It was one of those nights where I woke up feeling like it was morning but it was only 1:30.  It took ages to fall back to sleep and by the time I did, it was time to get up. I've been feeling it all day.  The only consolation is I know I'll sleep good tonight out of sheer exhaustion.  I can't wait for bedtime : )

Anyway, I saw something on Facebook the other day and the second I saw it, I knew I had to try it.  A cinnamon roll in a mug...in under 3 minutes. Wait, what? I'm in!

I was having a day of comforts and what's more comforting than a cinnamon roll? Nothing.
I know what you're thinking...a cinnamon roll baked in the microwave?? Sounds funny.

It wasn't! It was delicious!  I was so amazed how this came out.  It was baked perfectly and tasted sooooo good!!! This was almost too easy to do!

The recipe is from chindeep.com

In a small mixing bowl mix dry ingredients with a fork.

9 level tablespoons of all purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/8 teaspoon salt

Add: 3 - 4 tablespoons milk

Stir milk into dry ingredients until a smooth dough forms.  Too wet? add a bit more flour. Too dry? Add a drop or two of more milk.  Once the dough it flexible but not sticky, knead it a couple of times. Stretch it into a long flat strip about 4 inches wide.

Melt 1 tablespoon of butter and brush it on the strip.

Sprinkle with 1 teaspoon of cinnamon and 1 tablespoon of sugar.

Roll up and put it in a buttered mug (I used the mug I melted the butter in).

Microwave for 60 seconds.
*I microwaved for an additional 30 seconds to be sure it was done.
The dough will be firm to the touch.

Mix 4 tablespoons powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon milk to make glaze.

Pour it over the cinnamon roll and enjoy!

YUM!!

It wasn't the prettiest but boy was it tasty!  It was cooked perfectly and the butter, cinnamon, and sugar, were gooey and delicious!

It ate it right out of the mug! If you are a cinnamon roll person like myself, you must try this!

In other news we celebrated my Dad's birthday last night.

Here he is with my sister and his birthday pie :)

He got everything he wanted for his birthday this year.  Family and pie.

No doubt, the best things in life

Happy Thursday, my friends! Take a deep breath....it's almost Friday! I'm off to pour myself another pumpkin spice coffee (it's practically my blood type at this point) and get to work.

Stay cozy! xoxoxo

  1. Happy birthday to Danielle's Dad. The birthday pie is a great idea. I'd take it over cake anytime.... well, unless the cake was a German Chocolate one.
